Germany The first week of September I returned to Munich and Bavaria to research a story on "Following in the Footsteps of Pope Benedict XVI".

Croatia On June 1 I returned to Croatia to receive the Croatia National Tourist Board's Top journalistic award, the "Zlatana Penkala" or "Golden Pen" for the best article published in the United States about Croatia in 2010. My article,"Egypt in Zagreb" was a profile of the ancient Egyptian collection in Zagreb's Archeology Museum published in the American magazine: KMT: a modern journal on ancient Egypt. The other prize winners, divided into the two categories: the printed word and visual, came from over twenty European countries. We were accompanied by the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Organization in our home country. The award ceremony took place in Osijek in Slavonia. After the "Golden Pen" I stayed in Croatia another week to do stories on Zagreb, naif painting, Zadar, Sibenik, and Split.

Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi In mid-May I spent three days as a guest of Don Alfonso Iaccarino, his wife Livia, and his sons Ernesto and Mario at his restaurant and elegant hotel, Don Alfonso 1890. I also visited his farm at the tip of the Sorrentine peninsula facing Capri from where he gets all his fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs and more.

Milan At the end of January 2011 I was a guest at the three-day event IdentitaGolose where I interviewed numerous chefs. I was invited back for next year's IdentitaGolose in February 2012

Basel From November 29-December 3 I, 2010 went to Basel as a guest of SwissTourism in Italy and the Basel Tourist Board to write stories about Basel's Christmas Market, the largest in Switzerland; the city's Egyptian collection; and interview chefs, Tanja Grandits, Swiss Chef of the Year 2006, and Peter Knogl, Swiss chef of the Year 2011 .

Munich From May 31 to June 3, 2010, I went to Munich to write stories about the Beer and Oktoberfest Museum and Culinary Munich.

Croatia The first week in March 2010 I was invited by the Croatian National Tourist Organization in New York City to Croatia. I went to Zagreb and to Istria: Motovun, Livade, Porec, Pula, and Rovinj. My published articles include a profile of the collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts in Zagreb, an interview with His Eminence the Cardinal of Croatia, and interviews with the businessman who found the largest white truffle in history listed in the Guinness Book of Records and the first woman sommelier in Eastern Europe, today the owner of one of Croatia's top restaurants.
